Beverley Station Arts Gallery & Platform Theatre
For over 150 years the Beverley Station has connected our community to the wider world. Whilst trains no longer carry passengers, the exchange of culture, ideas and creativity remains in full motion.
Beverley Station Arts is a not-for-profit organisation based at the Beverley Station Arts Gallery and Platform Theatre (art gallery and performing arts centre) and is the heart of the arts community in the heart of the town. Beverley Station Arts aspires to provide high quality arts and cultural experiences for the well-being of local and regional community members, as well as visitors to Beverley.
The Station Gallery at the historic railway station is home to the Shire of Beverley community art collection, and since 2006 Beverley Station Arts has hosted artists in residence at the old station master’s quarters. This extremely successful year-round Artist-in-Residence program culminates in many exhibitions and workshops.
Through its annual artistic program, the station becomes a platform for the transmission of fresh perspectives, carried by arts touring programs that bring the world to Beverley. In turn, the artist residency program sends Beverley’s stories outward, inviting artists to immerse themselves in the community for a month, weaving their insights into the fabric of both place and practice.
The unique outdoor venue, Beverley Platform Theatre presents a performing arts events season from mid-September to late April, hosting professional acts live on stage including theatre, music, opera, dance, circus and film. In 2024 BSA was awarded the WA Pinnacle Presenter of the Year by CircuitWest for “consistently programming high quality and bespoke events that inspire and connect their community”. The momentum of performing live has grown in our small community for we now have our local choir, BeSASSy, and BAD (Beverley Amateur Dramatics), performing at various events, plays and musicals.
Beverley Station Arts also delivers the highly regarded annual Beverley Art Prize, now in its 56th year, which offers generous cash prizes and attracts large crowds along with the Easter Markets at the Station and other activities in tow, over the Easter long weekend.
